The St. Marien Hospital is a catholic hospital. It provides beds for 275 patients. A nursery school which belongs to this hospital teaches 75 nurses. Mostly patients with severe ophthalmic diseases are treated there by the ophthalmic surgeons working in the Ophthalmologic Group Practice of Ahaus-Gronau.
Ocunet is a federation of German eye surgery centers and recives referrals from all over Germany. Theses surgery centers provide any kind of ophthalmic surgery.
ProRetina is an interest group of patients with retinal degenerations. "Pro Retina Deutschland e. V." was founded as the "German Retinitis Pigmentosa-Society" in 1977 by patients with this disease as well as their relatives in order to help themselves.
